How We Handle Your Birth Data (And Why We Designed It This Way)
When you use our free BaZi calculator, you enter your birth date and time — and that's it. The calculation runs in your browser. We do not see and do not store your data. Nothing is sent to any ORBIT-12 server. When you close the tab, the data is gone.
When you order an Entity Blueprint, we collect a bit more — birth date, time, gender, location, and a delivery email — because we need it to build and send you a personalized chart. We hold that data for exactly 90 days after delivery, then delete it.
Birth data is permanent and uniquely identifying. So ORBIT-12 runs on a simple protocol: collect only what we need, hold it only as long as we need to, and tell you exactly what we're doing with it. This post is the long version of that.
Our Privacy Philosophy
We're not going to claim ORBIT-12 is the only Chinese astrology platform that respects your data. Some other calculators may also run client-side — we can't speak for them.
What we can do is show you exactly how our two products work, so you can decide what you're comfortable with before you enter anything.
The principle behind every architecture decision we've made:
If we don't need your data to deliver value, we don't collect it. If we do need it, we hold it only as long as we have a real reason to.
That's the whole protocol. Everything below is the implementation.
Flow A — The Free BaZi Calculator
Our free BaZi calculator runs entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. You enter your birth date and time, and the math executes on your own device. Nothing is transmitted to any ORBIT-12 server because there is no server involved in the calculation. We do not see and do not store your data.
Here's exactly what happens when you use it:

When you close the tab, every value you entered is wiped from your browser's memory. There is no "history," no "save my reading," no account to log into later. If you want to see your chart again, you re-enter the data.

Flow B — The Entity Blueprint ($24 Product)
The Entity Blueprint is different, and we want to be upfront about exactly how.
To build and deliver a personalized BaZi + Purple Star Astrology chart, we need:
- Birth date, time, and gender — required for the chart itself
- Birth location — required to adjust for solar time
- A delivery email — required to send you the finished Blueprint PDF
That's it for the chart. We don't ask for your name.
Two separate databases
When you check out, Shopify captures the standard order data — your name, your email, your billing address — because every Shopify store requires this to process a purchase. None of that touches your chart.
Your birth data lives in a separate database, completely outside Shopify. The two systems don't talk to each other. Your Shopify order record stays where Shopify orders normally stay; your birth data goes through its own dedicated flow.
Retention: 90 days, then deleted
We hold your birth data for 90 days after your Blueprint is delivered, then delete it.
The 90-day window exists for customer-support reasons — re-sending the Blueprint if it landed in spam, correcting a chart if you entered the wrong birth time, helping with delivery issues. After 90 days the support window closes and your birth coordinates are removed from our system.
What stays after 90 days: your Shopify order record (standard for any merchant) and your email in our list until you unsubscribe. What's deleted: every birth coordinate that made the chart personal.

More depth, more inputs. That's the trade-off.
Why do I need to give my name when I order the Entity Blueprint?
You don't need to give your name for the chart itself. ORBIT-12 only uses your birth date, time, gender, and location to build your Blueprint. The name field appears at checkout because every Shopify store requires it to process a purchase — it's part of the order, not part of your reading. Your Shopify order data and your birth data are stored in two completely separate databases.
How long does ORBIT-12 keep my birth data?
Birth data collected for the Entity Blueprint is held for 90 days after delivery, then deleted. The free calculator doesn't store any birth data at all — it never reaches us in the first place.
What happens to my data after 90 days?
Your birth date, time, gender, and location are deleted from our system. Your Shopify order record remains in Shopify (standard for any merchant) and your email stays in our list until you unsubscribe.
